In the 'Checkmate' operation conducted at 10 massage parlors in Konya, 28 people were detained, and 74 victimized women were rescued. Following three months of technical surveillance, simultaneous raids were carried out with 239 police officers, resulting in the seizure of a large amount of money, weapons, drugs, and digital materials. Out of the 28 suspects detained, 21 were arrested.
An operation named 'Checkmate' was carried out against 10 different massage parlors in Konya on the grounds of alleged prostitution. While 28 suspects were apprehended, 74 victimized women were rescued.
As part of the investigation conducted by the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding 'encouragement, mediation, or coercion of prostitution', the Konya Police Department's Public Order Branch carried out a three-month study. After three months, teams conducted a large-scale operation named 'Checkmate' against 10 different massage parlors. The operation, which consisted of 90 teams and involved a total of 239 police officers, was carried out simultaneously. As part of the operation, 28 suspects were taken into custody. At the same time, 74 victimized women who were found to be engaged in prostitution were rescued.
A LARGE NUMBER OF CRIMINAL EVIDENCE WAS SEIZED
During the searches conducted at the homes, workplaces, and vehicles of the suspects; a large amount of cash, various currencies, and gold were seized. 915,610 Turkish lira in cash, 530 euros, 175 dollars, 5 Ukrainian hryvnias, 5 Georgian lari, and 18 grams of gold were confiscated. Additionally, during the searches, 1 blank-firing pistol, 4 hunting rifles, 1 unlicensed pistol, 92 cartridges of various calibers, 12 camera recording devices, 20 alarm systems, 10 alarm remotes, and 25 walkie-talkies were found. Various amounts of narcotic substances were also seized.
21 OUT OF 28 SUSPECTS WERE ARRESTED
The 28 suspects who were apprehended were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station. While 7 of the suspects were released under judicial control, 21 were arrested and sent to prison.
