An investigation has been launched following the disposal of a photograph of President Erdoğan.

14.10.2024 15:32

Yüreğir Mayor Ali Demirçalı announced that an administrative investigation has been initiated regarding the discovery of a bag containing a photo of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the municipality's garden, claiming that a conspiracy has been set against them. Demirçalı stated that the two individuals involved in the incident were hired during the term of the AK Party mayor, saying, "Our colleagues immediately started an investigation. We will do whatever is necessary, and we will go all the way."

The portrait of President Erdoğan, which was thrown into a bag, was found in the garden of the Yüreğir Municipality, which is run by the CHP. Yüreğir Mayor Ali Demirçalı claimed in a statement to reporters in his office that a conspiracy had been set against them.

Demirçalı alleged that two individuals identified through camera recordings of the incident were hired during the term of the AK Party mayor, stating, "They resorted to such a method because we removed one of them for working with their spouse. This is not a family business; after all, we have a balance of income and expenses."

Demirçalı continued: "I call on the AK Party provincial and district administrators and council members who are trying to gain political advantage from our President to be a little more sensitive because what has been done is unacceptable. Ultimately, he is our President. The disrespect shown to him is disrespect shown to the entire society. One of these individuals is still working with us and continues in his position. We have initiated an investigation, and whatever is necessary will be done. We will also file a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office today. I learned about the issue from the newspaper. Our colleagues immediately started an investigation. We will do whatever is necessary, and we will go to the end."

A statement has been made by the municipality where it is claimed that President Erdoğan's photo was thrown in the trash

"THEY REMOVED OUR WORKERS FROM THEIR JOBS"

Demirçalı stated that they have many portraits of Erdoğan, saying, "I do not know whether the photo was brought from outside or obtained from within the municipality. Since those who did this are municipal employees, they may have taken it from inside or brought it from outside."

AK Party Adana Deputy Faruk Aytek, along with the managers of the AK Party Adana provincial and district organizations and party members, reacted to the incident gathered in front of the municipality.

Participants carried photos taken at moments when Erdoğan's photo was visible and not visible in Demirçalı's office.

AK Party Provincial Chairman Ozan Gülaçtı stated in a press release that they see the election results as the will of the people, saying, "Unfortunately, in the process we have come to so far, we do not see the same maturity and political respect from the CHP municipality. First of all, they removed our workers who work hard and earn their living just because of their political views."

"AN ATTACK ON THE WILL OF THE NATION"

Gülaçtı expressed that the municipality administration could not hide "the hatred within," stating:

"The photo of the President of the Republic of Turkey, which was present in the mayor's office when the Yüreğir Mayor took office, was later taken down and found inappropriately in a trash bag, subjected to disrespectful treatment in the municipality's garden. We are not just talking about the removal and disposal of a photo; we are discussing a brazen attack on the elected President of the country, the will of the nation, and the highest representative office of the national will. Those responsible for this insolence and immorality should know that you can only take down and throw away a photo, but you can never erase the love for Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from the hearts of this nation."

"WE WILL HOLD ACCOUNT FOR THIS IMMORALITY"

Gülaçtı stated that they will follow the process to ensure that the suspects are held accountable before justice, saying, "We will definitely hold account for this immorality. No one should attempt to trample on the will of the nation. Such ugly and despicable behaviors only show the impotence of those trying to obstruct the blessed march of this noble nation, but they should know that those who committed this ugliness, who took that photo down from the office and then immorally threw it into the garden, to the sides, and into the trash, along with their supporters, will receive the punishment they deserve in the grip of justice."

Gülaçtı said, "Every attack on the leader of this nation is considered an attack on the entire nation, and the account for this attack will definitely be demanded. We strongly condemn this immoral attack and invite all those responsible to apologize publicly immediately."
