At least 6 people died and 7 were injured as a result of the collapse of a 5-story building in the city of Tripoli in northern Lebanon. While efforts continue to rescue other individuals trapped under the rubble, the city has been declared a "disaster zone" due to the presence of numerous risky buildings.

Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene following the collapse of the five-story building. Tripoli Mayor Abdulhamid Kerime stated in a press conference that 6 people lost their lives and 7 others were injured as a result of the building's collapse. Kerime expressed that efforts are ongoing to rescue other individuals trapped under the rubble.

Kerime stated that they declared Tripoli a "disaster area" due to the presence of numerous risky buildings in the city, emphasizing that the government must take necessary steps with all its institutions. No official statement has yet been made regarding how many people were in the building at the time of the incident.
ANOTHER BUILDING COLLAPSED 15 DAYS AGO
On January 24, another five-story building collapsed in the Kubba area of Tripoli, with 4 people rescued alive from the rubble, while 1 person lost their life.
