While the war between Pakistan and Afghanistan continues to unsettle the world, a call for a "peaceful solution" has come from one of the parties. Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Afghan administration, stated that they continue to support dialogue, saying, "We have always insisted on a peaceful solution and still want the issue to be resolved through negotiations." On the other hand, the toll of the war has also begun to become clearer with mutual statements from both sides.

As the conflicts between Pakistan and Afghanistan turn into a full-scale war, the regional security agenda is being reshaped, while a call for a "peaceful solution" has come from one of the parties.

AFGHANISTAN: WE STILL WANT THE ISSUE TO BE RESOLVED THROUGH NEGOTIATIONS

Afghanistan's government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid provided information on the latest status of the attacks between the two countries during a press conference. Mujahid stated, "Pakistan is the initiator of the war," claiming that Pakistan has "violated Afghan airspace" and bombed "residential areas, including civilian targets" in the Jalalabad and Paktika regions, leading to the recent escalations.

Describing Afghanistan's counterattacks as "legitimate self-defense," Mujahid noted that the Kabul side "continues to support dialogue," stating, "We have always insisted on a peaceful solution and still want the issue to be resolved through negotiations." He added that the Kabul administration aims to establish peaceful relations with neighboring countries, including Pakistan and India, "without being under the control of any country," and used the expression, "Our good relations with India are not directed against Pakistan."

"WE HAVE CAPTURED 19 PAKISTANI MILITARY OUTPOSTS AND 2 HEADQUARTERS"

Mujahid stated that the "Pakistan Taliban (TTP) issue" is Pakistan's internal matter and that the conflict dates back to before the Taliban regime's return to power in Kabul, saying, "It is unreasonable for Pakistan to impose its old internal issues on Afghanistan."

Mujahid claimed that since last night, 19 Pakistani military outposts and two headquarters have been captured in mutual attacks, asserting that "55 Pakistani soldiers lost their lives and several were taken captive" during these attacks. Spokesman Mujahid reported that 13 Afghan soldiers lost their lives and 22 were injured in the mutual attacks with Pakistan.

PAKISTAN'S STATEMENT

General Director of the Pakistan Army Public Relations Unit (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated in a press release that 12 Pakistani soldiers lost their lives and 27 soldiers were injured in Afghanistan's attacks. Chaudhry noted that "274 Taliban fighters" were killed in the attacks carried out by Pakistan and that more than 400 people were injured.

AFGHANISTAN-PAKISTAN DISPUTE

On February 22, the Pakistan Ministry of Information announced that following recent bomb attacks in the country, 7 points it described as "terror camps" along the border with Afghanistan were targeted. The Afghan Ministry of Defense stated that an "appropriate and measured response would be given at the right time" against Pakistan.

In a statement from the Afghan Red Crescent, it was expressed that 18 people lost their lives and many were injured as a result of Pakistan's attack. Pakistan's Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry stated that "approximately 70 terrorists were neutralized" in the attacks carried out along the Afghanistan border. Following Pakistan's targeting of the 7 points it described as "terror camps," the Afghan administration delivered a protest note to the Kabul Ambassador, who was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

PAKISTAN'S EXPECTATION FROM THE AFGHAN ADMINISTRATION

Since the Taliban took control in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has been asking the new administration to take measures regarding the Pakistan Taliban (TTP). The Islamabad administration emphasizes that the TTP, which it classifies as a terrorist organization and has carried out numerous actions on its territory, has established itself in Afghanistan, while the Kabul administration has not taken measures against the organization.

The Afghan administration, on the other hand, claims that the TTP does not operate on its territory. The TTP actively uses the tribal areas in the Pashtun belt that spread across both countries, established during the British colonial period and effectively serving as a border, known as the Durand Line.
