U.S. President Donald Trump added another threat towards Iran. Stating that Iran should not have nuclear weapons in any way, Trump expressed that if Tehran rejects the agreement, they will take military action if necessary, and that Israel will also be involved in this action.
US President Donald Trump added another threat towards Tehran ahead of direct talks on 'nuclear' issues scheduled to take place in Oman on April 12.
"WE DON'T WANT MUCH"
After signing presidential decrees in the Oval Office, Trump responded to questions from the press regarding the agenda, stating that the US would hold direct negotiations with Iran on Saturday and that a positive outcome would be better for everyone. The US President mentioned that the people in Iran are very smart and aware of the current situation, emphasizing that they "don't want much" in terms of reaching an agreement with Iran.
"IF IRAN REJECTS THE AGREEMENT, WE WILL TURN TO MILITARY OPTIONS AND ISRAEL WILL BE INCLUDED"
Trump stated that Iran should not have nuclear weapons under any circumstances. In response to a question about what would happen if they could not reach an agreement with Tehran, he said, "If military intervention is necessary, we will intervene militarily. It is clear that Israel will be involved in this. However, we will be the leaders in this; no one can lead us. We will do what we want."
A SIMILAR STATEMENT HAD ALSO COME FROM NETANYAHU
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a video message broadcast from Washington during an official visit to the US, made a similar statement to Trump. In his message, Netanyahu stated that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons, arguing that this could be achieved either through an agreement or "military options." He noted that he and US President Donald Trump agree on the issue of Iran not having nuclear weapons, saying, "Iran's nuclear facilities must be destroyed. We agree that Iran should not have nuclear weapons. If a nuclear agreement cannot be reached, we will turn to military options."
IRAN AND THE US WILL MEET IN OMAN ON APRIL 12
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi announced on social media following US President Donald Trump's statement that "we are holding direct talks with Iran and the discussions will continue on Saturday" that meetings with the US would take place on Saturday, April 12. Arakchi stated, "Iran and the US will hold indirect high-level talks in Oman on Saturday. This meeting is both an opportunity and a test. The ball is now in the US's court."
