During Turkish Airlines' (THY) flight from Seattle to Istanbul, captain pilot İlçehin Pehlivan passed away, and the aircraft was landed in New York by the co-pilot and the first officer. Those moments were reflected in the words of the co-pilot to the Boston Air Traffic Controller: "We initially had three pilots, but we lost one of our captains."
Recently, the captain pilot of the Airbus A350 aircraft, registered as TC-LGR, operating the TK-204 flight from Seattle to Istanbul, suddenly fainted during the flight. Due to the incident, a doctor on board provided the first aid to the pilot in the cockpit. Despite all the interventions, no results were achieved, and 59-year-old İlçehin Pehlivan lost his life.
THE PLANE WAS LANDED BY THE CO-PILOT
Following this, the second pilot of the aircraft contacted the Boston Air Traffic Controller to report the situation and declared that they would make an emergency landing at New York Airport. After the death of pilot İlçehin Pehlivan, the second pilot's communication with the air traffic controller included the statement, "We currently have one captain pilot and one co-pilot on board. Initially, we had three pilots. However, we have lost one of our captains. We are currently heading to John F. Kennedy."
