The Revenue Administration (GİB) made a statement regarding a news article titled "They robbed the state and got rich" published in a media outlet, emphasizing that the news does not reflect the truth. In the statement, it was noted that the claims regarding the cancellation of tax debts and the resulting harm to the public are unfounded. It was emphasized that, under Turkish tax law, there is no legal regulation that allows or permits the unconditional cancellation of tax debts, except for certain special circumstances such as natural disasters and regulations regarding the abandonment of the collection of some small receivables. MINISTER ŞIMŞEK DENIED THE ALLEGATIONSThere was also a statement from the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, regarding the issue. In his statement on social media, Minister Şimşek said, "There is no legal regulation that allows for the cancellation of tax debts. When an irregularity is detected, necessary actions are taken immediately.."
