With the Revaluation Rate set at 25.49%, the Special Communication Tax will increase as of January 1, 2026. The fee, which is currently 570 TL and applied to all new line owners, will rise to 715 TL in the new year. Along with the tax increase, the amount deducted at a rate of 10% from the bills of existing internet subscribers and mobile line owners will also increase.
The inflation figures that will determine the salary, pension, and rent increases have been announced. According to the data released by TÜİK, inflation increased by 2.55% in October, while the annual rate reached 32.87%.
THE REVALUATION RATE HAS BEEN SET AT 25.49%
With the figures announced by TÜİK, the Revaluation Rate has also been determined. Accordingly, the revaluation rate to be applied for taxes, fees, and fines has been set at 25.49%.
INCREASE IN SPECIAL COMMUNICATION TAX
Along with the Revaluation Rate, many taxes, fees, and fines will see an increase, and one of the items that will be increased as of January 1, 2026, will be the Special Communication Tax (ÖİV).
WILL INCREASE FROM 570 LIRA TO 715 LIRA
The Special Communication Tax (ÖİV), which was raised from 400 lira to 570 lira last year, will be increased again as of January 1, 2026. The amount of the increase in the tax item is expected to be announced in the Official Gazette, which will be published at the end of the month. If the revaluation rate of 25.49% determined for the year 2025 is applied, the Special Communication Tax will rise to 715 lira in the new year.
WILL BE COLLECTED FROM ALL NEW SUBSCRIBERS
The fee of 715 lira will be collected from all new subscribers, regardless of whether they have a postpaid or prepaid plan. Operators will ensure that the mentioned amount is reflected in the bills in equal installments over 12 months. In other words, the tax, which is expected to be 715 lira in the new year, will lead to everyone who will acquire a new line paying 59.5 TL per month for a year.
In addition to this expense, the ÖİV, which was set at 10% by President Erdoğan in 2021, will continue to be collected from all mobile line owners or users receiving internet services at home. With the increase to be made in the new year, internet subscribers and mobile line owners will also have to pay the 10% Special Communication Tax deduction on a higher amount in their bills.
According to the information shared in the Official Gazette, this tax covers the following expenses:
In the application of the Special Communication Tax regulated by Article 39 of the Law on Expenditure Taxes No. 6802:
a) All kinds of mobile electronic communication services, including sales made for top-ups to prepaid lines,
b) Services related to the transmission of radio and television broadcasts via satellite platforms and cable media,
c) Services of wired, wireless, and mobile internet service providers,
d) Other electronic communication services not covered by the above (a), (b), and (c) clauses,
will be taxed at a rate of 10% starting from the publication date of the Presidential Decision No. 3469, which is January 30, 2021.
