On the 100th day of Ekrem İmamoğlu's detention, thousands of people gathered in Saraçhane. During the protest, which was also attended by CHP members Mahmut Tanal and Yunus Emre, tensions rose with the police. In the scuffle that occurred in front of the barricades, some young people were taken into custody. When the attempts at reconciliation failed, Tanal intervened by crossing the barricades. On the 100th day of Ekrem İmamoğlu's detention, who was removed from the position of İBB Presidency, tensions occasionally rose during the demonstrations held in Saraçhane Square.
EXTENSIVE SECURITY MEASURES WERE TAKEN
CHP Şanlıurfa Member of Parliament Mahmut Tanal and CHP Istanbul Member of Parliament Yunus Emre also attended. While CHP organizations and citizens chanted slogans together, extensive security measures were taken around Saraçhane. Police teams were on standby, ready to intervene with barricades surrounding the area.
TANAL BROKE THROUGH THE BARRICADES
In moments of heightened tension, scuffles occurred in front of the barricades. Some young people were detained during the incidents. Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Mahmut Tanal attempted to negotiate with police officials. However, after failing to achieve results, Tanal advanced by crossing the barricades to allow protesters to pass. Footage of Tanal crossing the police barriers and these moments being recorded by cameras quickly spread on social media.
