In Avcılar, Istanbul, a dispute arose between the municipal police teams who went to the street after a vehicle parked on the sidewalk was reported to the municipality and the owner of the vehicle. As the vehicle was not removed, a municipal officer who wanted to take a photo of the car for penal action was injured during the ensuing scuffle and was taken to the hospital, while three individuals involved in the incident were taken to the police station for questioning.
An automobile parked on the sidewalk in the Gümüşpala neighborhood of Avcılar district in Istanbul, which was reported to be blocking pedestrian passage, was complained about to the municipal call center.
SCUFFLE OCCURRED WHEN TRYING TO TAKE A PHOTO
Upon the report, the municipal teams that went to the address requested the removal of the car, which had all four wheels on the sidewalk. A dispute broke out between the driver, who said he had to leave his car on the sidewalk because he couldn't find a parking space, and the municipal teams. A scuffle occurred between municipal officer Volkan Yılmaz, who wanted to take a photo of the car to impose a penalty, and the vehicle owner when the car was not removed.
FIRST BROKE HIS PHONE, THEN ATTACKED WITH PUNCHES
According to the allegation, the vehicle owner grabbed Yılmaz's phone and threw it to the ground, breaking it. The vehicle owner and his friend, who claimed that Yılmaz headbutted him during the scuffle, attacked Yılmaz with punches. Yılmaz, who suffered a cut on his eyebrow during the fight, was taken to Murat Kölük State Hospital by his team members. It was reported that municipal officer Volkan Yılmaz, who had recently undergone bypass surgery, received two stitches on his eyebrow.
3 PEOPLE DETAINED
Avcılar Deputy Mayor Adnan Karakoç, who visited Yılmaz while he was being treated in the hospital, received information from the doctors. It was learned that three individuals involved in the incident were taken to the police station to give their statements upon Yılmaz's complaint to the hospital police.
"HE TRIED TO KICK US OUT WITH OBSCENE WORDS"
Municipal officer Volkan Yılmaz described his experience as follows: "We went to the address upon a complaint about a citizen parking a vehicle on the sidewalk. We saw the car with all four wheels on the sidewalk. The vehicle owner did not remove it, claiming there was no other place to park. We told him that we would initiate a penalty process if he did not remove it. Upon this, he tried to kick us out with obscene words. When I tried to take a photo of the license plate with my phone, he took the phone from my hand. I told him to give the phone back, and when he didn't, a scuffle ensued. He threw the phone to the ground and broke it, and then the fight started. I recently had bypass surgery. Four of my veins were changed. Now my eyebrow is cut, and I received two stitches. I also had bleeding from my nose."
