The 5th meeting of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission took place. After the meeting, MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız stated, "We reached an agreement with all political parties participating in the commission regarding the right to hope."
The National Assembly President Numan Kurtulmuş chaired the meeting of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, which convened at 14:00, where the joint report works discussed in the previous 4 meetings were re-evaluated.
"THE FINAL VERSION OF THE REPORT WILL BE GIVEN IN THE COMING DAYS"
In a statement from the Presidency of the National Assembly, it was noted that President Numan Kurtulmuş received representatives of political party groups regarding the report prepared by the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission. The statement reported that Kurtulmuş has held 5 meetings with representatives of the party groups that are members of the commission so far, and it was stated, "In these meetings, the topics determined within the framework of the reports prepared by the parties continued to be evaluated in a detailed and meticulous manner. In the commission meeting planned to be held in the coming days, the final version of the report will be voted on and submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey."
FETİ YILDIZ: WE REACHED A CONSENSUS WITH ALL POLITICAL PARTIES
MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız stated in a press release after the meeting, "We reached a consensus with all political parties participating in the commission regarding the right to hope. The report will recommend compliance with the ECtHR decisions."
BAHÇELİ'S "RIGHT TO HOPE" CALL FOR ÖCALAN
On the other hand, the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli during his party's group meeting yesterday regarding the right to hope for Abdullah Öcalan, the reinstatement of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-Chair Ahmet Türk, who was replaced by a trustee, and the release of Selahattin Demirtaş, who is in prison, made headlines. Bahçeli stated, "Our decision is clear until Anatolia finds peace, Öcalan finds hope, the Ahmets return to their positions, and Demirtaş returns to his home."
WHAT IS THE RIGHT TO HOPE?
The right to hope means that a person sentenced to life imprisonment or aggravated life imprisonment should not remain in prison unconditionally until the end of their life, and the legal possibility of regaining freedom after a certain period should not be completely eliminated.
