WHO IS AYSU TÜRKOĞLU?
She was born on May 2, 2001, in Bodrum. She graduated from Bodrum Science High School in 2019. She completed her studies in the Coaching Department of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Ege University.
Aysu started swimming at the age of 7 at the Bodrum Sports Swimming Club, inspired by her older sister. At the age of 14, she continued with open water swimming. Generally, she competes in distances of 5-7.5 and 10 kilometers.
In her first international Aquamasters swimming competition, she became the 1st in the women's category in the 6 km course. On the night of July 29, 2022, she became the youngest Turkish athlete to swim across the English Channel, completing it in 16 hours and 28 minutes over a distance of 60 kilometers.
Aysu Türkoğlu became the first Turkish woman and the youngest Turkish athlete to swim across the North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland. On March 20, 2024, she completed the crossing of the Cook Strait in New Zealand in 7 hours and 21 minutes.
