The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reacted to the decision of the Israeli government to unanimously recognize the events of 1915 as 'genocide', requesting that the decision be reconsidered.

Following Israel's so-called recognition of the "Armenian Genocide," a message of reaction came from Azerbaijan to Israel.

Regarding the decision made by the Israeli government on the allegations related to the 1915 events of Armenians, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, 'We call on the Israeli government to reconsider this decision.'

'TURNING IT INTO A POLITICAL DECISION IS UNACCEPTABLE'

The statement noted that the Israeli government's decision raises serious concern, adding, 'The distortion of historical facts concerning the 1915 events and turning complex historical processes into a political decision without legal and scientific basis is unacceptable.'

The statement, which noted that such steps serve to deepen existing contradictions rather than reconciliation and mutual understanding, hindering efforts for lasting peace and compromise in the region, used the expression, 'We call on the Israeli government to reconsider this decision.'

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan will continue its determined stance on defending historical facts, respecting the principles of international law, and promoting lasting peace in the region.

REACTION FROM TURKEY

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs evaluated this initiative of Israel as politically motivated. Ankara underlined that the decision is related to Israel's trial at the International Court of Justice over its practices in the Gaza Strip, and that Israel is trying to cover up its own actions.
