The HDP delegation from İmralı met with Bahçeli in the Parliament. Bahçeli welcomed the delegation at the door. The DEM Party delegation has started its political party tours. Today, the delegation first met with Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç and later visited the Chairman of the Future Party, Ahmet Davutoğlu. Last week, the delegation met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and also came together with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli in the Parliament.
BAHÇELİ WELCOMED AT THE DOOR
The delegation, consisting of TBMM Deputy Speaker and DEM Party Van MP Pervin Buldan, DEM Party Şanlıurfa MP Mithat Sancar, and Faik Erol, was welcomed at the door by Bahçeli.
STATEMENT AFTER THE MEETING
After the meeting, Pervin Buldan stated, "This is the third meeting we have had since this morning. We thank Mr. Bahçeli and his delegation for accepting us. We discussed and detailed the stages the process has reached. It was a positive and nice meeting. We had the opportunity to listen again to Mr. Bahçeli's positive views on the process. There is a need for a common stance at the commission stage as well. We will continue to fight for this process to evolve into a peace process. Once again, I thank Mr. Bahçeli and his delegation." she said.
BAHÇELİ'S JOKE
MHP Leader Bahçeli made a joke to the waiting press members by saying, "I am ahraz." The press members could not hide their surprise in response to these words, saying, "What?"
WHAT DOES AHRAZ MEAN?
The word ahraz means deaf and dumb in the public's understanding. The word ahraz is used as an adjective in our language. Especially in Anatolia, the state of being ahraz refers to being dumb and both dumb and deaf. It is generally a word used for the mute. It has also settled in our language regionally.
MEETING WITH YILMAZ TUNÇ IN THE MORNING
On the other hand, the DEM Party delegation, consisting of Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, met with Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç in the morning hours.
After the meeting, Buldan stated, "It was an important visit. We made a general assessment of the stages the process has reached in terms of political, legal, and the path to be taken in terms of the process."
Mithat Sancar, in his statement, said, "We had a productive meeting. At this stage of the process, the legal ground is very important. For the process to progress solidly and healthily towards the peace, rule of law, and democracy we desire, the Ministry of Justice holds a special position. A lot of work will be done from now on, of course," he said.
In response to the question, "Was the release of Selahattin Demirtaş discussed in the meeting?" Pervin Buldan replied, "Every topic was discussed. We will not provide details, and we actually agreed not to take questions, but almost all the topics you can ask were discussed."
FIRST STEP TO THE TERROR-FREE TURKEY COMMISSION WILL BE TAKEN
On the other hand, the first step for the Terror-Free Turkey Commission in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) is expected to be taken today. TBMM President Numan Kurtulmuş will write a letter to political parties asking them to provide members for the commission to be established. It is planned that the commission will be established not by law but by "Presidential decision," meaning it will not be a specialized commission but only a commission that presents "proposals." According to parliamentary sources, the reason for this preference is to establish a more flexible, inclusive, and temporary structure.
It is expected that the commission will be established with broad representation and consensus, making decisions not by majority vote but by qualified majority, and will consist of a total of 35 members. Political parties will be represented in the commission according to the number of seats they have in the Parliament. It is anticipated that one member will be selected from political parties without a group and also by lottery from independent MPs. The commission will continue to work even if the Parliament goes on recess.
Managing social psychology will be one of the most important tasks of the commission. The commission will create a consultation ground for the necessary legal regulations, will receive expert opinions, and will gauge the public sentiment on the subject through tours in Anatolia.
BAHÇELİ AND BULDAN HAD A PHONE CONVERSATION
After the PKK terrorist organization's weapons were burned, Devlet Bahçeli had a phone conversation with Pervin Buldan. In the conversation, he said, "Your efforts and contributions are great, thank you," and used the expression, "I wanted to say congratulations." He also added, "We will have a face-to-face meeting soon, and we will discuss the details then."
