Israel struck the General Staff Headquarters in Syria's capital, Damascus. As consecutive explosion sounds were heard in the city, the Israeli army stated in a statement regarding the attack that it had targeted the door of the Syrian General Staff Headquarters. It was noted that the attack was related to clashes between Druze militias in southern Syria and Syrian security forces.

"WE STRUCK THE GENERAL STAFF"
In a statement regarding the attack from Israel, it was said, "The Israel Defense Forces recently carried out a drone strike at the entrance of a Syrian military headquarters in Damascus. We continue to monitor developments against Druze civilians in southern Syria. Attacks on the region will continue in line with the directives of the political authority, and we are prepared for various scenarios."
ISRAEL HAD ALSO STRUCK EAST OF SWEIDA
Recently, Israel had also struck Sweida province, where the Druze population is dense, during the days when clashes between security forces and armed groups were ongoing. Two Israeli warplanes had carried out seven airstrikes on the Sile Military Airport east of Sweida and the city center.
TENSION IS HIGH IN THE REGION DUE TO THE DRUZE-BEDOUIN TRIBES' TENSIONS
As a justification for increasing its attacks on Syria recently, Israel cites security threats against the Druze population in the south. The Tel Aviv administration had announced that it would activate "military deterrence" against harm to Druze communities.
