It has been suggested that Kürşad Zorlu, who resigned from the İYİ Party, and Selma Aliye Kavaf, who resigned from the DEVA Party, will join the AK Party, and that Erdoğan himself will present them with their badges.

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey will host the group meetings of political parties this week. WHO IS KÜRŞAD ZORLU?

Kürşad Zorlu was born on April 9, 1977, in the Yerköy district of Yozgat. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Yerköy, Yozgat, and graduated from the Public Administration Department of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Selçuk University.

Kürşad Zorlu, known for his work related to the Turkish world, has written columns for newspapers such as Yeniçağ, Vatan, and Habertürk. His father, Bahri Zorlu, served as the mayor of Yerköy from 1994 to 2004 as a member of the MHP. On October 19, 2022, he joined the İYİ Party at the TBMM group meeting and was appointed as the spokesperson and chief advisor to the party's chairman on the same day, a position he held until May 3, 2024. After the 3rd Ordinary Congress of the İYİ Party held in 2023, he was appointed as the Head of Media Relations of the İYİ Party. Zorlu, who speaks English and Kazakh, is married and has three children.

He became a professor in the field of political science and public administration and served as the head of the main science branch of management sciences. Between 2011 and 2013, he was a member of the Ahi Research Center, Employment Board, and SME Project Management Board. In November 2019, he was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Bozok University. Kürşad Zorlu, who holds the title of associate professor in management and strategy, has served as a professor at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University. He has prepared numerous articles and documentaries on the Turkish World and has received international awards in this field. He has received many awards, including the Kazakhstan-Turkey Superior Service Medal (2016), the Ahmet Zeki Velidi Togan Service Award (2010), and the İsmail Gaspıralı Turkish World Award (2015).

WHO IS SELMA ALİYE KAVAF?

She was born in 1962 in Denizli. She graduated from Denizli High School. In 1985, she graduated from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Ankara University, Faculty of Language and History Geography. She then worked as a teacher in private tutoring institutions until 1991. Between 1991 and 2002, she taught in high schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.

In 2002, she became a candidate for the Denizli MP from the Justice and Development Party. In 2003, she took on the role of the founding chairperson of the Women's Branch of the Justice and Development Party. In the 2007 general elections, she entered the parliament as a member of the 23rd term from Denizli. During her legislative term, she held the positions of chairperson of the Turkey-Peru Friendship Group and spokesperson for the Health Commission.

In 2009, she was appointed as the Minister of State responsible for Women and Family. During her term, she served as the chairperson of the Congo-Jordan-Albania Joint Economic Council. After her ministerial role, she took a break from politics. Later, in 2014, she completed a master's degree with a thesis in the History Department of the Institute of Social Sciences at Hacettepe University. After completing her master's program, she started a doctoral program in the History Department at Hacettepe University in 2015. She is still continuing her doctoral program. Selma Aliye Kavaf, who speaks intermediate English, is married and has one child.
