Borsa Istanbul Starts Thursday Looking Up

BIST 100 index gains some 4.7 points from previous close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,428.66 points on Thursday, up 0.33% or 4.69 points from the previous close.

At the midweek's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.73% to 1,423.97 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 8.4320 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 8.4390 on Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was slightly down to 9.9530, compared to 9.9680, while one British pound traded for 11.6850 Turkish liras, down from 11.7080.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $75.40 as of 10 a.m. local time . -
