In Germany, Turkish conductor Serkan C., who was checking tickets on the train, was attacked by a Greek passenger traveling without a ticket. Serkan C., a father of two, collapsed to the ground after being struck on the head and later died in the hospital where he was taken.
A Turkish conductor was attacked on a passenger train in Germany. According to reports in the German media, on Monday, Turkish conductor Serkan C. was checking tickets on a regional train when he wanted to check the tickets of four passengers aged between 20 and 30.
GREEK PASSENGER ATTACKED TURKISH CONDUCTOR
On the train departing from Landstuhl district in Rheinland-Palatinate, a 26-year-old Greek citizen traveling together insisted on not showing his ticket and argued with Serkan C. The Greek passenger, who stood up from his seat and punched Serkan C. while pushing him, continued his attacks despite the conductor's calm demeanor.
FATHER OF 2 CHILDREN TURK LOST HIS LIFE
Serkan C. requested the passenger without a ticket to get off the train as per procedure. However, the Greek passenger did not get off the train and continued his assault on Serkan C. After being struck on the head, Serkan C. fell to the ground and lost consciousness. He was given artificial respiration but could not regain consciousness and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The married Turkish conductor, who was a father of two, lost his battle for life in intensive care early in the morning after being in critical condition since Monday night.
ATTACKER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
The police reported that the attacker was taken into custody after the incident. It was stated that the Greek citizen, who does not have a residence permit in Germany, would be brought to court on charges of intentional manslaughter.

Evelyn Palla, Senior Executive of Deutsche Bahn (DB), expressed in a statement regarding the incident, "This tragic death left me speechless and deeply saddened. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Serkan C.'s family and colleagues. As DB, we strongly condemn this horrific attack and act of violence. We must all ask ourselves why such acts of violence continue to occur. Today is a dark day for all railway workers in the country. We are in mourning as DB," she said.
Deutsche Bahn DB announced that there would be a one-minute silence nationwide at 15:00 local time today.
