Bundesliga 2 Club Nurnberg Appoints Miroslav Klose New Head Coach

11.06.2024 15:57

Length of Klose's contract with German side was not disclosed.

Bundesliga 2 club Nurnberg announced Tuesday that they have appointed former German international Miroslav Klose as their new head coach.

The length of his contract with the German side was not disclosed.

"Tradition, passion, honest work, great fans – these are all things that I love about football and that I associate with 1. FC Nurnberg," said Klose, the former head coach of Austrian Bundesliga's Rheindorf Altach.

"That's why the opportunity to become a coach here grabbed me immediately. The club has a great foundation with its youth work, which we want to build on."

Nurnberg's sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou said, "Miro is an extremely meticulous and detail-obsessed coach who has not only experienced and learned a lot during his successful playing career, but has also developed a clear idea as a coach of how to be successful in football and what is needed for this on the pitch and in the dressing room."

Klose, 46, previously worked as an assistant coach at German Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich before taking the helm at Rheindorf Altach.

The former Bayern Munich and Lazio regular has retired from football in 2016.

Klose is still the all-time top scorer for Germany with 71 goals, and won the 2014 FIFA World Cup. -
