In the Terme district of Samsun, security camera footage has emerged from the passenger bus accident that resulted in the deaths of 2 people, and those who lost their lives in the accident were laid to rest today.
The accident occurred yesterday at around 08:45 on the 61st kilometer of the Samsun-Ordu highway, in the Gündoğdu area. According to the information obtained, the Mercedes passenger bus with license plate 53 RT 111, driven by Mustafa Hakan O. from the Sahil Seyahat company, hit Aydın Yiğit (47) and Mehmet Yıldız (71), who were pulling a tarpaulin on a pickup truck with license plate 55 ADU 207 parked by the roadside, before entering a cornfield. Yiğit and Yıldız, who were injured in the impact, were taken to Terme State Hospital by health teams. Despite the interventions, Aydın Yiğit, who was in critical condition, lost his life at Terme State Hospital. Mehmet Yıldız, who was severely injured and transferred to Samsun Training and Research Hospital, could not be saved despite the interventions.

While the 32 passengers on the bus escaped the accident unscathed, the security camera footage of the vehicle has emerged. The footage shows the moment the driver entered the safety lane, hitting pedestrians next to the pickup truck, and the plunge into the cornfield. The driver's calm demeanor during the impact drew attention.
THE DECEASED IN THE ACCIDENT WERE BURIED
Mehmet Yıldız, a father of 4 who lost his life in the accident, was buried in Derecik Cemetery after the funeral prayer held at Kefeli Mosque in İstasyon Neighborhood, İlkadım district, following the noon prayer; Aydın Yiğit was buried in the family cemetery after the funeral prayer held at Atakum Çatmaoluk Mosque at the same time.
BUS DRIVER ARRESTED
The bus driver Mustafa Hakan O., who was taken into custody after the accident, was arrested by the court on charges of "causing the death of 2 people by negligence" and sent to prison.
