The U.S. Ambassador to Ankara and Trump's Special Envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, caused a scandal in Lebanon. Interrupting journalists, Barrack threatened not to make a statement, saying, "We will leave as soon as this place starts to become chaotic and animalistic."
The U.S. Ambassador to Turkey and Special Representative for Syria, Tom Barrack, met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Lindsey Graham, U.S. Special Representative for Syria Barrack, U.S. Deputy Special Representative for the Middle East Morgan Ortagus, and U.S. Ambassador to Beirut Lisa Johnson at the Baabda Presidential Palace in the capital, Beirut.
BARRACK'S INSULTS TO JOURNALISTS
Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, Barrack made headlines for his scandalous remarks. He openly insulted journalists, first interrupting them by saying, "Wait, wait." Barrack, who told them to "be quiet for a second," stated that he was not explaining anything to the journalists.
"WE WILL LEAVE AS SOON AS IT STARTS TO BECOME ANIMALISTIC HERE"
Threatening journalists not to make a statement, Barrack said, "We will leave as soon as it starts to become chaotic and animalistic here. If you want to know what is happening, behave civilly, be polite, and be tolerant. Because that is the reason for what is happening in the region."
