Call from Özgür Özel to the government: Minimum wage should be 25 thousand lira.

09.07.2024 18:51

CHP leader Özgür Özel stated that the minimum wage should be 25 thousand lira, saying, "You must give what is due to retirees, workers, tradesmen, and farmers, you must increase their wages. If you increase wages, there will be a livelihood, if you don't, there will be an election."

CHP leader Özgür Özel called for an increase in the minimum wage and retiree pensions in his party's group meeting. Özel said, "If you increase wages, there will be a livelihood, if you don't, there will be an election."

"THE MINIMUM WAGE HAS DECREASED TO 3,080 TL SINCE JANUARY"

Özel stated that the minimum wage announced in January has decreased to 3,080 TL today and that it is not possible for minimum wage earners to make a living with this amount. He mentioned the support provided to retirees through the Emekli Kart project implemented by CHP municipalities, including transportation, natural gas, market and food support, and holiday assistance. He emphasized that the minimum wage should be 25,000 TL.

"IF YOU INCREASE WAGES, THERE WILL BE A LIVELIHOOD, IF YOU DON'T, THERE WILL BE AN ELECTION"

Özel said, "They said, 'there won't be an election for four years, everyone should plan accordingly.' In other words, they are saying, 'I will crush you now, and when the time comes, I will give you a little treat.' But things are not that easy this time. We saw it on March 31, the suffering of retirees and the wrath they caused you. In the upcoming period, if retirees, workers, farmers, and tradesmen can make their voices heard and show their reactions to this government, there is no power that can stand against you. I say it once again; Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Devlet Bahçeli, and the Cumhur Alliance, you must give these retirees, workers, tradesmen, and farmers their rights, and you must increase their wages. If you increase wages, there will be a livelihood, if you don't, there will be an election."

"TURKEY, STAND UP AT 9 PM TONIGHT"

In this part of his speech, when the audience stood up and applauded him, Özel said, "We are addressing all of Turkey from here; Turkey, stand up at 9 PM tonight. If you want an increase in retiree pensions and the minimum wage; if you want prices for tea, wheat, Malatya apricots, hazelnuts, corn, grapes, and citrus fruits, we are starting tonight at 9 PM. Turn on the lights, turn off the lights, it will be visible from space. Those who want an increase should join us. Stand up, turn on the lights, together we will make our voices heard. We haven't stopped, we are just getting started. We will take the increase by force. Either there will be an increase and a livelihood or there will be no way but an election."
