Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear made a statement regarding the accident that occurred at Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville, stating that 7 people lost their lives and 11 were injured after the UPS cargo plane crashed shortly after taking off from the runway, adding, "We believe this number may increase."
EXTINGUISHING WORKS CONTINUE
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg also reported that all emergency response teams in the city have been deployed to the scene and that efforts to extinguish the fire that broke out after the accident are ongoing.
FOOTAGE IS TERRIFYING
A video shared on social media showed flames coming from the left engine of the plane during its takeoff on the runway and crashing to the ground shortly after takeoff.
CAUSE OF THE CRASH UNDER INVESTIGATION
The cause of the crash of the UPS flight 2976, an MD-11 type aircraft heading towards Honolulu, is being investigated.
