A cat was stolen from a pet shop located in Izmir. The unbelievable theft was recorded second by second by the pet shop's security camera. According to the information obtained, the incident occurred a few days ago at a pet shop in the Bornova district. A family of three who came to the store stated that they wanted to buy a parrot and looked at the birds in the shop. The family, who liked a parrot worth 3,000 lira, left the shop after leaving a 200 lira deposit. HIDING THE CAT IN HIS COATThe family members returned the next day to buy the bird, paying 3,000 lira for the parrot. While a 15-year-old child in the shop was preparing the parrot, one of the customers took advantage of his distraction and set his eyes on a breed of cat being kept in the shop. The individual stole the 2-month-old cat by hiding it in his coat as if nothing had happened. All these moments were captured by the shop's camera, and the individuals left the shop with the parrot they purchased and the stolen cat. "MY SON WAS ALONE"The shop owner, Nurşen Öner (35), expressed her surprise at the theft. Öner said, "Two days ago, three people came; they asked about parrots, canaries, and fish. They looked around. Then they went outside and after talking among themselves, they left a 200 TL deposit for the parrot and left. I even told my husband in the evening, 'they don't seem trustworthy, I didn't like them, let's be careful.' We had a relative who got sick, so we had to go there. When we went there, my 15-year-old son was alone in the shop. These people came again; the son, daughter, and father came together. They told my son that they wanted to buy the parrot for which they left a deposit. My son had his back turned at that moment; while catching the parrot and putting it in the cage, he picked up the cat from the ground and hid it in his jacket. The child didn't notice at all. They paid for the parrot and left. After they left, my son turned on the camera and realized what had happened. Later, when they called us, we informed the police. We went and gave our statements and filed a complaint," she said. THE THIEF'S FATHER RETURNED THE CATNurşen Öner later said she was called on the phone and continued: "We don't know how it happened. The camera footage was widely shared, so it could be because of that. In the morning, the father called and said, 'sister, I'm sorry. My son is a drug addict. He stole the cat, we're bringing it back.' They later left the cat with our neighbor. We have 3 adult cats and 3 kittens. We take care of them like our own children. We are happy that it is coming back. We will probably withdraw our complaint. He took it right in front of the cameras; there is no explanation for it. He did everything in front of his father's eyes. The father didn't say, 'son, what are you doing, that's wrong,' he should have." At that moment, 15-year-old Batuhan Öner, who was in the shop, also said that he noticed the cat was stolen on the camera while preparing the parrot.
