After an agreement was reached with DİSK, which has been on strike for 7 days, İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Cemil Tugay stated that some CHP members remained silent during the process. Tugay said, "For some reason, our representatives and the Deputy Chairpersons of the General Presidency who represent İzmir in the MYK chose to remain silent during this period. I did not see their contributions to the process."

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay answered questions from journalists after the signing of the Collective Labor Agreement (CLA) with DİSK General-İş. Tugay stated, "If we see any lack of service in any area, we will intervene if the municipality is unnecessarily carrying a burden that causes problems."

"OUR DEPUTIES AND VICE CHAIRS REMAINED SILENT"

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the CHP's Izmir deputies, Cemil Tugay said, "You saw this as a reality. If we do not speak openly about these issues, some people will not correct their mistakes. On the first day, I heard that Salih Uzun made a statement after Ümit Özlale and Seda Kaya Ösen. However, for some reason, our other deputies, who represent Izmir in the MYK, preferred to remain silent during this period. I did not see their contributions to the process," he said.

"I DID NOT HIRE ANY RELATIVES OF UNION MANAGERS"

Stating that the clause regarding "the employment of a child in the municipality in place of a parent who has left the job" included in the Collective Labor Agreement signed during the term of former Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer continues in this CLA, Tugay expressed the following: "Our employees are also people from our family. After serving the municipality, when they survive and other family members cannot make ends meet, we consider it our duty to hire someone from that family to support them. There is no such thing as the father retired and the child was hired. I did not hire any relatives of union managers during my term. I do not know what happened in the previous term. The figures and names are somewhat ambiguous. I do not find it right to look at people this way. Someone may have entered that position fairly and may be doing it successfully. We cannot slander everyone just because they are someone's relative. However, if they were hired without merit and are currently in a redundant situation, I will dismiss those colleagues," he stated.

THE MUNICIPALITY AND THE UNION REACHED AN AGREEMENT IN IZMIR

The strike of the workers of İZENERJİ, İZELMAN, and EGEŞEHİR A.Ş, which has been ongoing for days, ended with the acceptance of the offer described by IzBB President Cemil Tugay as the "final offer." The 30% raise and 19% inflation difference proposed by IzBB bureaucrats and conveyed to the union by SODEM-SEN last night were accepted. In this context, the workers granted the authority to sign the collective agreement to the union branch managers. It was stated that the lowest salary in Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is 66,000 TL.
