The Adana 8th Regional Court of Appeals sentenced Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar to 2 years and 1 month in prison for the crime of "threat." Aydar, who received 45% of the votes in the March 31 local elections, was also subjected to a political ban.

The Adana 8th Regional Court of Appeals has concluded the case regarding Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, who was sentenced to 2 years and 1 month in prison for the crime of threat during the appeal review. Accordingly, the decision regarding Kadir Aydar was upheld by a majority vote.

HE WAS ELECTED WITH 45% IN THE LOCAL ELECTION

In the local elections held on March 31, while Mayor Aydar reached a vote rate of 45%, he was sentenced to 2 years and 1 month in prison, and a political ban was also imposed on him. It was emphasized in the dissenting opinion that the complaint by the opposing member was made 13 months later, there were no witnesses, and the victims constantly changed their statements, thus the decision should be overturned and all defendants should be acquitted of the charges.

STATEMENT FROM KADIR AYDAR

Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, in his statement regarding the decision, said, "The evidence has not been examined, the content of the file has not been disclosed to the parties, the video CD has not been watched, and the file has been concluded without a hearing for these deficiencies. A great legal absurdity has occurred. Defendants in the same position who do not engage in politics have been acquitted, while those who do engage in politics have had their sentences upheld and political bans imposed. This situation has been clearly stated in the dissenting opinion. Of course, we will use our legal rights to the fullest against the decision," he stated.
