WHO IS KADIROV?Ramzan Akhmatovich Kadyrov was born on October 5, 1976, in Tsentoroi. He is the third president of Chechnya, which is part of the Russian Federation. He was the second son and the youngest child of the Akhmet and Ayman Kadyrov family. He has an older brother named Zelimkhan (1974 - May 31, 2004) and two older sisters named Zargan (born 1971) and Zulay (born 1972). Akhmat Kadirov fought against the Russians during the First Chechen War but changed sides during the Second Chechen War, declaring his loyalty to Russia. His father was killed on May 9, 2004, during a bomb attack organized by Chechen radical jihadists during the celebrations of World War II Victory Day in Grozny. Since he had not yet reached the legal age of 30, the presidency was assumed by Alu Alhanov before he took office, and shortly after turning 30 in 2011, he took over the presidency. There are claims that Kadirov governs Chechnya with oppression and despotism.
