Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Donald Trump, the first US president to visit China in nine years, with a grand official ceremony at the Great Hall of the People. Deeply impressed by the welcoming ceremony, Trump said, "First of all, this was a great honor that very few people have been able to witness. I must particularly note that I was very impressed by those children."
US President Donald Trump, who arrived in Beijing, the capital of China, yesterday as part of his official visit to the country, has begun his diplomatic talks expected to last 2 days.
Trump, the first US president to visit China in 9 years, was welcomed by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People with a grand official ceremony held in his honor. After shaking hands and greeting their countries' official delegations, the two stood at attention on a platform set up in the center of the ceremony area as the Chinese and US national anthems were played. Xi and Trump then walked along the red carpet, passing the ceremonial procession and children holding flags who participated in the welcome ceremony, and entered the Great Hall of the People to begin diplomatic talks.

Speaking after the ceremony, US President Trump said, "First of all, this was a great honor that very few people can witness. I must particularly note that I was very impressed by those children. They were happy and beautiful."
TRUMP HAD COME TO CHINA FOR AN OFFICIAL VISIT
Trump had arrived in China's capital Beijing yesterday as part of the first official visit by a US president to the country in 9 years. The "Air Force 1" plane, carrying Trump and his cabinet members as well as leading figures from the US business community, landed at Beijing Capital International Airport around 8:00 PM local time. Trump, who was welcomed with an official ceremony there, then went to the hotel where he would stay in his official vehicle.
