CHP leader was asked about his plaid jacket: "After 47 years, we have become the first party, let us wear it once."

In recent times, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has attracted attention with his actions and steps towards normalization in politics. He drew attention with the jacket he wore during a meeting with Sinan Ateş's wife. Özel, who was observed wearing a plaid jacket, which is associated with President Erdoğan and referred to as the 'winning jacket', responded to a question about it.

"LET US WEAR IT ONCE"

CHP leader stated that there was no special message in wearing the jacket on Fatih Altaylı's program. He said, "The jacket is not that plaid, but it appeared that way in the image. After 47 years, we have become the first party, what harm is there in us wearing it once. The jacket is called the winner jacket... There is no special message, but we said let us wear it once. Now we are the winners. It is not appropriate for a social democratic party to attribute a success solely to the leader."

STANDS OUT DURING AK PARTY GOVERNMENT

In Turkish politics, plaid jackets have emerged as a preferred style by politicians during the AK Party government. The tradition, which started with President Erdoğan, continued with Ahmet Davutoğlu, Binali Yıldırım, Murat Kurum, and other ministers. At one point, even MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli also preferred this jacket.
