The Adıyaman Municipal Council convened for the election of the deputy mayor following the Interior Ministry's suspension of Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, who was placed under judicial control with a "house arrest" decision in the investigation against the criminal organization led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş.
UFUK BAYIR RECEIVED 22 VOTES
During the meeting, the AK Party Group nominated Ekrem Gürcan Çadır for the deputy mayor position, while the CHP Group nominated Ufuk Bayır. In the secret ballot election, Çadır received 9 votes, while Bayır, who received 22 votes, was elected as the Deputy Mayor of Adıyaman Municipality.
In his speech, Bayır thanked the council members who supported him, stating, "Our Municipal Council has elected a new deputy mayor within the framework of democratic traditions. First of all, I would like to thank our CHP Municipal Council Group, which acted as a whole to ensure that this process concludes based on respect for the will of the people of Adıyaman, as well as the council members of other political parties who supported us."
OPEN SUPPORT FROM AK PARTY MEMBER TO CHP CANDIDATE
A notable development in the election was the vote cast by AK Party council member Kazım Tanrıverdi for the CHP candidate Ufuk Bayır. During the election, AK Party Council Member Kazım Tanrıverdi openly declared from the council podium that he voted for the CHP candidate Bayır.
Later, AK Party Council Member Kazım Tanrıverdi stated, "I wish my president Ufuk good luck. I cast my vote in his favor to support him. At the same time, I see the shackles placed on Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere as shackles placed on the people of Adıyaman, and therefore I stand by Abdurrahman Tutdere. I also stand by Ufuk Bayır, who is his trustee."
AK PARTY AND YRP COUNCIL MEMBERS VOTED FOR CHP CANDIDATE
CHP Adıyaman Provincial Chairman Engin Doğan, who participated in the News Desk program hosted by Seda Selek on Halk TV, stated, "While Mr. Tutdere is under house arrest, the election took place in the Municipal Council group. One member from the New Welfare Party (YRP) has already joined the CHP and completed his membership. The second YRP member also cast his vote for Mr. Ufuk Bayır. Besides that, an AK Party municipal council member could not withstand this injustice and unlawfulness and also voted for the CHP candidate Ufuk Bayır."
In the municipality, the number of CHP council members is 18, the number of AK Party council members is 9, and the number of YRP council members is 2.
