Following heavy rainfall in the Akçalı village area of the Hakkari-Van highway, a collapse occurred on the road.
The rainfall that affected the region yesterday caused damage to the infrastructure of the Hakkari-Van highway.
ROAD COLLAPSED
Following the collapse of a section of the road, traffic flow began to be managed in a controlled manner by teams. It was reported that after the damage assessment by highway teams, repair work will begin in the area.

Muharrem Tekin, President of the Hakkari Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (HESOB), who made evaluations on the issue, argued that road problems in the region have become chronic. In a statement made via his social media account, Tekin warned about the risk of the road completely closing, stating that in such a case, the city's connection with its districts could be cut off. Noting that Hakkari is one of the rare provinces without an alternative route, Tekin said, "The road problems we have been expressing for years are being postponed by citing geographical conditions as a reason. This situation is not just a natural disaster, but the result of long-accumulated infrastructure neglect."
Authorities warned drivers who will use the route to comply with traffic signs and signals.
