Hasbi Dede, the CHP mayor of Görele, who was arrested and suspended from his position for allegedly sending sexually harassing messages to a 16-year-old child in Giresun, was released at the first hearing.
The first hearing of the case in which Hasbi Dede, the Mayor of Görele district in Giresun, is being tried for allegedly sending harassing messages to a child via social media was held.
Hasbi Dede, who is detained at the Samsun Kavak Type S Closed Penal Institution, participated in the hearing, which was closed to the press and the public, via SEGBİS at the Görele 1st Criminal Court of First Instance.
DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS, RELEASED
Dede denied the allegations against him in his defense made via SEGBİS. The judge decided to release Hasbi Dede under judicial control in the interim ruling. The case was postponed to April 24, 2026.
FROM THE INDICTMENT
It was stated that on February 8, 2026, the victim child and their mother applied to the Görele District Police Department, complaining that Mayor Hasbi Dede had sent harassing messages via Instagram and WhatsApp.
In the indictment, it was recorded that the child's mobile phone was examined within the scope of the investigation, the messages were documented, and the digital materials were subjected to technical examination by the Cyber Crime Department of the Giresun Police Department. Dede is facing a prison sentence of 9 months to 4 years and 6 months for the crime of "sexual harassment against a child by taking advantage of the facilities provided by electronic communication tools."
Dede, who was arrested during the investigation process, was suspended from his position as mayor by the Ministry of Interior on February 12.
