Uganda's Chief of Defense Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba has come back into the spotlight with messages of support for Israel. Kainerugaba's sharing of a photo taken with an Israeli female soldier sparked discussions on social media.

"IDF SOLDIER WAS TEACHING ME HOW TO USE A WEAPON"

Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni, stated in a post on his social media account that the photo he used was taken years ago with a female soldier from the Israeli army.

Kainerugaba mentioned in his post, "An old photo. A beautiful IDF soldier was trying to teach me how to use a weapon. This was 17 years ago. God bless Uganda and Israel."

HE HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPRESSED HIS SUPPORT FOR ISRAEL

Kainerugaba had previously made statements openly supporting Israel. He indicated that he would stand by Israel in the tensions between the U.S. and Israel with Iran, expressing that he defended Israel's right to exist and stated that Uganda would be ready to provide support if requested by Israel.

HE HAD ALSO MADE HEADLINES WITH HIS PAST STATEMENTS

Kainerugaba had sparked controversy in the past with his posts regarding the Tigray People's Liberation Front in Ethiopia and his statements about Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

After his statements in 2022, Kainerugaba was removed from his position but later held critical roles and was appointed as the Chief of Defense Forces of Uganda in March 2024.
