As the process of a Turkey without terrorism moves to the parliamentary commission stage, Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi claimed that DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları is trying to sabotage the process. Selvi stated that Hatimoğulları is providing material for those who oppose the process. In response to the claim, DEM Party spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan said, "We are not 'supporters' of this process; we are one of its subjects!"
Hürriyet newspaper writer Abdulkadir Selvi claimed in his column today that DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları is trying to sabotage the ongoing "Terror-Free Turkey" process. This claim has sparked widespread reactions, while DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan responded to Selvi.
"TÜLAY HATİMOĞULLARI IS GIVING MATERIAL TO THOSE OPPOSED TO THE PROCESS"
Selvi stated that Hatimoğulları's statements have escalated tensions in the process, saying, "Whenever Tülay Hatimoğulları makes a statement, the climate that softened with the PKK's disarmament process changes. The atmosphere becomes tense. Concerns such as 'Will this process also fail? Will the PKK not disarm? Will this process be sabotaged?' come to the forefront. Those opposed to the Terror-Free Turkey process are trying to take one of Tülay Hatimoğulları's words and use it against the process. Tülay Hatimoğulları is providing material to those who are against the process with her statements. Then the question arises: Is Tülay Hatimoğulları also against this process? It is being circulated that Tülay Hatimoğulları is uncomfortable with the process. It is being said that she is against Öcalan's will," he said.
"IS SHE AGAINST THE PROCESS?"
In the continuation of his article, Selvi asked, "At a time when even Öcalan said, 'I do not see my own freedom as an individual matter,' Tülay Hatimoğulları says, 'The organization wants Öcalan to be free.' What are those who do not want the PKK to disarm accusing the government of? 'They are giving concessions to the PKK. They will release Öcalan, Öcalan will come out of Imralı,' they are propagating. There was a measure by the famous MIT agent Mahir Kaynak: He would ask, 'Who benefits from this?' In this case, who benefits from Tülay Hatimoğulları's statement? They started to take her words out of context while she was still on air. They organized a campaign saying, 'Look, their real intention is to free Öcalan.' So did Tülay Hatimoğulları contribute to this process or harm it? Now does this language benefit the process? Is this style in line with Öcalan's will? Even while the PKK has decided to disarm, is Tülay Hatimoğulları against this process? Is she trying to sabotage the process?"
"THOSE TRYING TO CAUSE CONFUSION WITHIN THE DEM PARTY ARE WASTING THEIR EFFORTS"
DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan, following Abdulkadir Selvi's article targeting Tülay Hatimoğulları, shared on her social media account, "We are aware that the targeting of our Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları is not a coincidence. We know the reasons very well! Those who are trying to create oppositions within the DEM Party to achieve results will be wasting their efforts; they should look back at our history and the political tradition we represent! We are not 'supporters' of this process; we are one of the main subjects from the central headquarters to the district organization! Those who want to categorize should know that our party is a whole that stands for peace, negotiation, and struggle. Those who turn a blind eye to this reality should abandon their discourse and attitudes aimed at muddying the process!"
