A new phase has been initiated in the Gülistan Doku file, which was taken off the shelf after 6 years. A large-scale search operation has been launched in the areas pointed out by Umut Altaş, for whom a red notice was issued and who was arrested in the USA, with the participation of JÖAK, JAK, and cadaver dogs.
The Gülistan Doku file, which was shelved and reopened after 6 years following her disappearance on January 5, 2020 in Tunceli, has shifted from a routine missing person case to a murder investigation. As new developments emerge in the investigation, a search operation has been launched in the area pointed out by Umut Altaş, who was arrested in the US after a red notice was issued for him. Searches are being conducted by Jandarma Special Public Order Command (JÖAK) and Jandarma Search and Rescue (JAK) teams in Dinar Creek, around Munzur University, and near the Sarısaltuk Viaduct in central Tunceli.
SEARCHED WITH UNDERGROUND IMAGING DEVICES
Efforts to find Gülistan Doku's lifeless body continue at various locations in Tunceli. Coordinated by the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice, JAK teams under the Gendarmerie General Command are conducting searches using underground imaging devices. The search operations, ongoing in different parts of Tunceli, involve the Gendarmerie Crime Search Team (JASAT), Tunceli Provincial Gendarmerie Command Center Commando Teams, JÖAK, and a cadaver dog unit from the Erzurum Provincial Gendarmerie Command.
SEARCH IN THE AREA POINTED OUT BY UMUT ALTAŞ
In an interview, Umut Altaş, who was arrested in the US after a red notice was issued as part of the Gülistan Doku investigation, said, "I don't know the exact location of the body, but it might be around the university, in deserted places where people don't go, near the Aktuluk neighborhood. They should look at blind spots in that neighborhood that no one visits. Also, the landfill area next to the water treatment plants in Bayraktepe must definitely be checked."
As of today, teams have started search operations in Dinar Creek, around Munzur University, and near the Sarısaltuk Viaduct.
Teams are conducting searches in determined areas based on narrowed base station data and suspicious locations. Using infrared signals from the devices, a three-dimensional image of the underground is obtained, and suspicious areas are examined in detail.
