Speaking about the absolute nullity debates within the CHP, Muharrem İnce made a striking suggestion directed at Özgür Özel. İnce argued that if Özel, in the group meeting, stated that he does not find the court ruling correct but has to comply with it, and then invited Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to the podium, the process could progress very differently. Stating that he cannot digest the court decision, İnce expressed that he does not want infighting within the party.

Muharrem İnce, commenting on the debates following the absolute nullity decision in CHP, made striking statements about both the court ruling and the internal party process. Stating that he does not want a fight within the party, İnce argued that the delegate system should be abolished and the party leader should be directly elected by the members.

"I AM CONSIDERED THE ELDER BROTHER OF THIS PARTY"

Speaking to Hürriyet columnist Ahmet Hakan, İnce stated that he has no expectations for any position, saying, "I have no ambition. Not like 'let them bring me somewhere.' I don't have such a worry. I have a responsibility to this nation. I am considered the elder brother of this party."

Arguing that the CHP's charter needs to be changed, İnce said, "I say: Let's change the charter, let the members elect the party leader. Let's get rid of the delegate system. The delegate system unfortunately brings corruption."

THE DELEGATE CLAIM DREW ATTENTION

Explaining his criticisms of the delegate system with a concrete example, İnce shared an incident he experienced during the 2019 congress process. İnce said, "At the 2019 congress, a delegate called me and said, 'I signed for you, they gave me five thousand lira, I withdrew my signature. If you want, I can make this public.' I replied, 'I have no business with a man who sells his vote for money,' and hung up. Let's end the delegate system now."

"I DO NOT FIND THE COURT DECISION CORRECT"

Sharing his views on the absolute nullity decision, İnce said he does not find the decision correct but that it must be implemented.

"I do not find this court decision correct; I cannot reconcile with it. There is a party leader elected by congress. But there is a court decision. What will you do? Will you not recognize the court decision? Well, but there is an obligation to comply with it," said İnce, adding that reconciliation should be preferred over conflict in this process. İnce stated, "My position is this: I do not want a fight within the party."

STRIKING SCENARIO FOR ÖZGÜR ÖZEL AND KILIÇDAROĞLU

Muharrem İnce also argued that the ongoing process could have been managed differently. Expressing that if Özgür Özel had taken a different stance, the current tension in CHP could have been avoided, İnce made the following assessment:

"Could it not have been done differently? For example, Özgür Özel, as the group chairman, could have opened the group meeting. In his opening speech, he could have said that the party should go to congress as soon as possible, that he does not find the court decision correct but has to comply, and then invited Kılıçdaroğlu to the podium. Wouldn't the process have been very different?"

These words of İnce were considered a striking proposal for resolving the crisis in CHP.
