The little-known cryptocurrency named "LIBRA," introduced by Argentine President Javier Milei, initially gained 89% in value, reaching a market capitalization of $4.5 billion, before crashing. The opposition accused Milei of "promoting fraud" and called for his removal from office.
The opposition in Argentina has called for the removal of President Javier Milei, whom they accuse of "promoting fraud" after he introduced a little-known cryptocurrency.
According to CNN, Milei stated in a post on his X social media account on February 14 that he was introducing a little-known cryptocurrency called "LIBRA," saying, "This special project will be dedicated to promoting the growth of the Argentine economy."
MANY INVESTORS HAVE LOST MONEY
Shortly after the post, the cryptocurrency, which quickly rose and fell, caused many investors to incur losses. Following the criticism, President Milei deleted his post and stated that he decided not to promote the project after becoming aware of the details.
OPPOSITION CALLS FOR "MILEI TO BE REMOVED"
In response, opposition lawmakers announced that they would demand the removal of Milei, whom they accuse of "promoting fraud." Sources close to Milei rejected the possibility of his removal, and it was reported that the Anti-Corruption Office is investigating the matter.

On the other hand, Argentina's Security Minister Patricia Bullrich defended Milei, stating, "The President has the freedom of expression to bring up any issues he wishes."
