Davutoglu signaled for a new alliance of 6 parties: Turkey needs a third way.

Ahmet Davutoğlu, the General Chairman of the Future Party, said, "While these events are happening in the world, how much can the Saadet Party, the DEVA Party, the Future Party, the New Welfare Party, the Good Party, and the Key Party doing separate things change the developments in the world? Therefore, everyone knows the efforts we have shown in this regard so far. We hope that these alliance negotiations will be completed in a short time. Turkey needs a third way."

The General President of the Future Party, Ahmet Davutoğlu, met with journalists in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Davutoğlu stated that Turkey needs to strengthen its freedom of thought, the capacity of public institutions, and its political structure in the face of the global picture.

"I WAS ASHAMED OF THE IMAGES IN THE ASSEMBLY"

Evaluating the fight that occurred during the oath-taking of Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and Justice Minister Akın Gürlek in the TBMM General Assembly, Davutoğlu said, "The rules are clear. Whether you like it or not, Mr. President has made an appointment. Of course, you can criticize, you can show a reaction there, but that reaction should not undermine the gravity of the Assembly. I was ashamed; fists were thrown, videos of one member of parliament attacking another are being shared on the ruling party's social media with Gençosman marches. What a disgrace this is, who are you? When I was Foreign Minister, I developed this habit. I wonder how these images would be perceived if they were broadcasted worldwide? An image of North Korea makes us smile. Did yesterday's image suit a state like the Republic of Turkey, a state that claims to have a 2,000-year-old state tradition? I do not say 'this or that is right'; together with the ruling and opposition within yesterday's tableau, it has caused extraordinary damage to Turkey's institutional image on the brink of this third world war. When the TBMM needs to take a common stance tomorrow, how will the world respect you?"

"OUR PRIMARY DUTY SHOULD BE TO RESTORE THE CREDIBILITY OF POLITICS"

Referring to the transfers of members of parliament and mayors between political parties, Davutoğlu stated, "I direct criticism to the main opposition party as much as to the ruling party. You will oppose the members of parliament transferred by the ruling party; however, you will be free to transfer members of parliament from us and the DEVA Party. You will continue to hold meetings and contacts. Such a thing is unacceptable. If the ruling and opposition do not commit to preserving the credibility of politics together, politics will not gain credibility. When someone denies what they said the next day, or when they say 'he does it more than I do' regarding corruption, there is no credibility in politics. Our primary duty should be to restore the credibility of politics. Is there anyone left in Turkey who trusts justice? If there is no justice, there is nothing," he said.

"THERE HAS BEEN ACTIVITY IN THE LAST MONTH"

Responding to journalists' questions, Davutoğlu mentioned his party's alliance efforts, saying, "If everyone enters a path without coming together in the Presidential Government System, the ruling party benefits the most from this, and the existing status quo continues. You will remember that the Future Party made the greatest sacrifice in this regard. We formed an alliance with the Felicity Party and established a group in the Assembly under the name of the Felicity Party. For a party, being under a name other than its own is the hardest decision. While forming the New Path alliance with the participation of the DEVA Party, we made every effort and provided support. There is currently a New Path group. When the group was being formed, I told Mr. Arıkan and Mr. Babacan that we needed to announce the election alliance and build it step by step. Now there has been activity in the last month. Last year, we talked with the New Welfare Party and made every effort. At the beginning of this year, I met with the leaders of the New Welfare Party, Felicity, and DEVA Party. They visited me this week as well. We will do our best. The right thing is for opposition parties that are close to each other to unite if possible, but if not, to form an alliance, avoiding fragmentation, and for these parties to gather the votes going to the ruling or main opposition for Turkey's guarantee. The same applies to the nationalist Good Party and the Key Party. We all need to put aside our small calculations. While these events are happening in the world, how much do the separate actions of the Felicity Party, DEVA Party, Future Party, New Welfare Party, Good Party, and Key Party change the developments in the world, and how much do they fortify Turkey? Therefore, everyone knows the efforts we have shown in this regard so far. From now on, we will show every good-faith effort. We hope that these alliance negotiations will be completed in a short time. Turkey needs a third way," he evaluated.

"THE PROCESS MUST BE SUCCESSFUL"

Davutoğlu stated that the members of parliament in the New Path group will not resign, and thus the group will continue its political life, adding that they have plans ready to prevent the group from falling in case of a possible resignation. He mentioned that he was informed about the draft report to be prepared by the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission established within the scope of the 'Terror-Free Turkey' goal, and that he had discussions with the General President of the Felicity Party, Mahmut Arıkan, and the General President of the DEVA Party, Ali Babacan, stating, "Since the report has not been made public, it is not right for me to say anything about its content. I look at this; there will be difficulties in a process, but there will be a goal you want to reach at the end of the process. What is that goal? To ensure a truly democratic environment in Turkey and to eliminate all elements of violence along with terrorism. After achieving this, you will see that many of the issues currently being discussed will cease to be discussions; however, if this is not achieved, it will be repeated. There are national sensitivities, and everyone needs to respect these sensitivities, but at the same time, this process must succeed," he said.
