'I AM EAGERLY WAITING FOR YOUR RESIGNATION'Demet Akalın said in her social media post, where she quoted Tekin's speech, "Terrible! I really can't believe it! I am eagerly waiting for your resignation!" Akalın's post quickly received over 1 million views. WHAT DID MINISTER TEKIN SAY?Tekin made the following statements at the 8th ordinary congress of the AK Party central district held in Batman: "What you understand from secularism is this; remember the 1940s, locking the doors of mosques, turning mosques into stables, and banning citizens from learning the Quran. You did these as a requirement of secularism. Therefore, what you understand from secularism is not the same as what I understand. I understand secularism as the state guaranteeing the freedom of religious belief and worship for all citizens, regardless of what religion they believe in. You understand secularism as the shackling and banning of Muslims' freedom of belief. You are imposing a secularism that you invented on me. This cannot be. You made it a requirement of secularism to take a child who wants to go to university with a headscarf into persuasion rooms. Some people who want to impose their ideological views on us are forcing concepts that do not overlap with universal definitions and criticizing us based on that."
