Disney Debuts New Star Wars Trailer At Fan Event

27.05.2022 15:12

Company also announces new series featuring Jude Law.

The Walt Disney Company on Thursday unveiled a new trailer and key art from its upcoming series Andor at a fan event held in Anaheim, California.

The US-based multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate said the series' first two episodes will launch exclusively on the company's streaming service Disney+ on Aug. 31. The series will span 12 episodes for its first season.

The Andor series takes place prior to the events of the 2016 movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and it will focus on the character of Cassian Andor's journey, which is again portrayed by actor Diego Luna.

In the fan event, called Star Wars Celebration, Disney unveiled third season footage from its TV series The Mandalorian and also announced a new live-action spin-off Star Wars series called Skeleton Crew featuring Jude Law that will stream next year.

During the four-day fan event, many actors from the Star Wars franchise, such as Harrison Ford, who first played Han Solo in the original Star Wars trilogy and Hayden Christensen, who portrayed Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel trilogy films, appeared on stage, according to media reports.

Another actor who was present at the event was Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequels, as his miniseries with the same name will start streaming on Friday.

After Disney bought the Star Wars franchise in 2012 from Lucasfilm for $4 billion, it has released a sequel trilogy, spin-off films, and TV series.

Since its launch in November 2019, the total number of subscribers in the streaming service has reached 137.7 million as of April 2, 2022, according to the company's financial results statement released on May 11. -
