The words about Syria spoken by Doğu Perinçek, the Chairman of the Homeland Party, during a live broadcast have caused controversy. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against Perinçek on the grounds that he described the Free Syrian Army as terrorists and praised the Bashar al-Assad regime.

On Wednesday, November 27, opposition forces launched an operation against the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, capturing many cities without even engaging in conflict.

61-YEAR-OLD REGIME COLLAPSED

Last night, the opposition forces took control in the capital, Damascus, causing the 61-year-old Ba'ath regime to collapse and leading to the escape of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from the country.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED BY THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

As the developments made a significant impact, an investigation was initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Doğu Perinçek, the Chairman of the Patriotic Party, who made statements regarding the events in Syria during a live broadcast.

"HE MADE PRAISEFUL REMARKS ABOUT THE BASHAR AL-ASSAD REGIME"

In a statement from the prosecutor's office, it was noted that "An investigation has been initiated ex officio by our Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Doğu Perinçek, the Chairman of the Patriotic Party, for his remarks made during a live broadcast on the media outlet Tv100 on 7/12/2024, which were contrary to our state's general national security policy, where he referred to the Free Syrian Army operating in Syria as terrorists and made praiseful remarks about the Bashar al-Assad regime."
