The sunny weather prevailing in Istanbul is giving way to rainy and cool days again. The meteorological department issued a strong downpour warning especially for Friday, May 1st.
The sunny weather that has been showing its face in Istanbul in recent days will be short-lived. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) issued striking warnings regarding weather conditions across the city in its latest report.
TEMPERATURES WILL RISE TEMPORARILY
According to AKOM's assessment, a partly and mostly sunny sky will be effective across the city until tomorrow. Air temperatures are expected to range between 16 and 19 degrees Celsius.
RAINY AND COLD WEATHER RETURNS
However, from tomorrow onwards, the weather in Istanbul will change again. According to meteorological data, a cold and rainy system will affect the region. Heavy downpours are particularly expected on Friday, May 1.
TEMPERATURES TO DROP ACROSS TURKEY
The weekly report from the General Directorate of Meteorology also indicated a similar picture. According to the report, starting from Friday, temperatures will drop beginning in the northwestern regions and will fall below seasonal norms across the country.
WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE TODAY?
According to the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology: The country is expected to be partly and very cloudy, with rain and occasional thunderstorms in eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia (except Ardahan and Iğdır), inland parts of Antalya, eastern Isparta, inland parts of Mersin, surroundings of Adana and Osmaniye, western Kahramanmaraş, southern Kastamonu, eastern Çankırı, western Çorum, Yozgat, Nevşehir, Kayseri, Niğde, Bingöl, Batman, Siirt and Mardin surroundings, and eastern Diyarbakır. The precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in eastern parts of Van. Fog and patchy mist are expected in eastern Marmara and inland parts of the Black Sea. There is a risk of avalanches and snowmelt in high-slope areas with deep snow cover in inland parts of the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia.
Air temperatures are expected to continue around seasonal norms across the country.
Winds are expected to be light, occasionally moderate, from northerly directions, and from southwesterly and westerly directions in southwestern parts of the country.
HEAVY RAIN WARNING
In its warning of heavy rain, the Meteorology stated, "Since the precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in eastern parts of Van, caution and precautions should be taken against possible adverse conditions."
AVALANCHE DANGER WARNING
The warning from Meteorology said: "There is a risk of avalanches and snowmelt in the high-altitude, steep areas with deep snow cover in the inland highlands of the Eastern Black Sea and eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia."
