U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he is considering changing the name of the Department of Defense to the "Department of War." Trump stated that he could announce the decision regarding the name change within a few weeks.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. Department of Defense is considering changing its name to the "Department of War."
During a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in the Oval Office, U.S. President Trump answered questions from the press regarding the agenda.
"WE WILL CHANGE THE NAME OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF WAR"
The U.S. President stated, "We call it the Department of Defense, but we will probably change its name. I think we will inform you about this soon. It was called the Department of War during World War I and World War II. In my opinion, it really is that way. I have a feeling that we will change the name of this department."
Trump noted that he has spoken with relevant individuals about this matter and mentioned that he could announce the decision regarding whether the name of the Department of Defense will change within a few weeks.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The U.S. President had previously stated that he would prefer to use the term "Department of War" instead of the Department of Defense in his earlier statements.
