During a meeting where U.S. President Trump hosted South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in the Oval Office, he evaluated the U.S. relations with both South Korea and North Korea.

Trump expressed that the Washington-Seoul relationship is at a very good level and will improve even further with new trade agreements, stating that he is pleased to meet with South Korean President Lee.

"I WOULD LIKE TO MEET WITH THE NORTH KOREAN LEADER"

Trump pointed out that Lee has a "more positive and constructive" perspective on North Korea compared to previous South Korean leaders, emphasizing that this is a significant advantage for closer contact and discussions with North Korea.

In response to a question about whether he would meet with the North Korean leader this year, Trump said, "It's hard to say, but I would like to meet with him this year. He was pleased to meet with me. He didn't want to meet with Joe Biden because he didn't respect him. We are looking forward to meeting with him, and we will make the relationship better."

"WE VALUE GOOD RELATIONS WITH CHINA AND NORTH KOREA"

Trump explained that he will continue to strive for peace on the Korean Peninsula, referencing his visit during his first presidential term to the demilitarized zone between the two countries, where he met with Kim Jong-un.

Stressing that he knows the North Korean leader very well and has a very good relationship with him, Trump noted that he is ready to take steps to accelerate the process using this situation.

Trump stated that having good relations with the leaders of North Korea, Russia, and China is not a bad thing but rather a good thing, emphasizing that the U.S. values good relations with these countries.

HE WANTS OWNERSHIP OF THE BASE AREA IN SOUTH KOREA

The U.S. President recalled that there are currently about 45,000 American soldiers stationed in South Korea, stating that they will demand that the base where these soldiers are located be handed over to them by the South Korean administration.

South Korean President Lee emphasized that they see Trump as a "man of peace," expressing their appreciation for his efforts to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula.

Lee also stated that they will take new steps to develop economic and trade relations between the two countries and expressed great pleasure in working with Trump, especially in shipbuilding.
