U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he wants the Russia-Ukraine peace agreement to progress quickly, but noted that the situation is fragile. Trump said, "I think Russia and Ukraine are making progress as we hoped, but it is very fragile."

US President Donald Trump stated that he wants to advance the Russia-Ukraine peace agreement process as quickly as possible, but the situation is "fragile."

Before departing for Rome to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, Trump evaluated the agenda for reporters in the White House garden.

"THE SITUATION IS VERY FRAGILE"

Reminding that his Special Representative Steve Witkoff is currently in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump noted that they are working to stop the Russia-Ukraine war as soon as possible. Trump, who stated, "I think Russia and Ukraine are making progress as we hoped, but (the situation) is very fragile," expressed his desire for the agreement to be signed as quickly as possible, but mentioned that there is no clear "deadline" for this.

"I WANT TO DO IT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE"

Trump said, "We will try to get out of the war to save 5,000 people. If I can achieve this, it would be a great honor. There is no deadline for this. I just want to do it as quickly as possible."

WHAT HAPPENED?

In an interview with American Time magazine, Trump stated that he never thought Ukraine could join NATO and noted that this possibility was a factor that led to the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war. Regarding the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, Trump shared the opinion, "If it had not come up, the likelihood of the war not starting would have been much higher."

Touching on the Crimea dispute between Russia and Ukraine, Trump stated, "Crimea will remain with Russia."

Trump argued that if he had been president instead of Barack Obama during the period when Crimea was illegally annexed by Russia, this event would not have occurred, saying, "(Crimea) could it have been taken from me easily? No, it could not have been. If such a thing had happened while I was president, Crimea would not have been taken."
