Singer Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung over the unauthorized use of her photo in television sets. The lawsuit involves allegations of copyright infringement and misuse of image.
World-famous singer Dua Lipa has sued tech giant Samsung, alleging that her photo was used without permission on television boxes. The singer is seeking $15 million in damages from the company.
"MY PHOTO WAS USED WITHOUT PERMISSION"
According to a BBC report, Dua Lipa filed a complaint in federal court on May 8, claiming that her photo was used without authorization on some television boxes sold by Samsung across the United States.
The lawsuit states that the company prepared the packaging designs "to promote and sell Samsung products, unfairly exploiting Lipa's hard-earned success."
$15 MILLION DEMANDED
The famous singer's legal team has demanded $15 million in damages in the lawsuit against Samsung.
The filing includes allegations of "copyright infringement," "trademark infringement," and "misappropriation of Lipa's likeness and image."
FESTIVAL PHOTO USED ON BOXES
According to the lawsuit, the image used by Samsung is a photo of Dua Lipa taken during a festival performance in 2024, with the copyright belonging to the artist.
Lipa reportedly first noticed the situation in June 2025.
FANS CALL IT "DUA LIPA TV BOX"
The filing also mentions that social media users began sharing the television boxes as "Dua Lipa TV Box."
Some fan comments were also included in the lawsuit. One user reportedly said, "I'll buy that TV just because Dua is on it," while another commented, "If you want to sell something, put Dua Lipa's picture on it."
ALLEGATION: "WARNINGS WERE IGNORED"
Dua Lipa's legal team argues that repeated requests to Samsung to stop the infringement were disregarded by the company.
The company has not yet made an official statement regarding the lawsuit.
