After four earthquakes in Istanbul, the largest of which was 4.3 in magnitude, aircraft landing at Sabiha Gökçen Airport were informed by the Air Traffic Controller that "A small earthquake occurred." The planes that were landing at that time were held in the air for a short period to allow for runway inspection.
After the earthquakes measuring 3.5, 4.3, 3.7, and 3.5 that occurred consecutively in Istanbul, the landing permissions for planes descending to Sabiha Gökçen Airport were canceled.

The Air Traffic Controller, who informed the planes that the landing permission was canceled for runway inspection, explained the situation to the pilots by stating, 'There was a small earthquake.'

One of the pilots of a plane asked, 'Is there any information about the magnitude and epicenter of the earthquake?' The conversations between the tower and the planes were reflected in the radio recordings.
