Due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions, schools were closed in some provinces on Friday, February 7. Education was suspended in certain schools in the provinces of Bursa, Bolu, Kayseri, Sinop, Sakarya, Sivas, Ordu, Rize, Gümüşhane, Nevşehir, Kütahya, Bingöl, Düzce, Kocaeli, Kastamonu, Samsun, Erzincan, Tokat, Ardahan, Trabzon, and Giresun.

Due to the continued snowfall, schools were closed in some provinces on Friday, February 7. Here is the list of provinces that have announced snow days so far.

BURSA

After the heavy snowfall affecting Bursa, education was suspended for 1 day in the Büyükorhan district. Additionally, it was announced that transportation education was suspended for 1 day in the Orhaneli district. In a statement from the Büyükorhan District Governorship, it was stated, "Due to the heavy snowfall, icing, and blizzard experienced in our district, in order to prevent potential difficulties in transportation and to mitigate risks and adverse situations that may arise, as a preventive measure, it has been decided by the District Hygiene Board to suspend education for 1 day on Friday, February 7, 2025, for all students in primary and secondary schools and all our schools."

Furthermore, in a statement from the Orhaneli District Governorship, it was stated, "Due to the assessment that adverse weather conditions will continue throughout our district and that there is a risk of icing, education has been suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 7, 2025, for special education and transportation education students in our district."

BOLU

Due to the intermittent heavy snowfall in Bolu for the past 2 days, education was suspended for 1 day for students coming to school via the transportation education system in the central district, Mudurnu, and Göynük districts.

In a statement made by the Bolu Governorship, the following was stated:

"Due to adverse weather conditions experienced in some regions of our province, as a precaution against potential risks and dangers in transportation, education has been suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 7, 2025, for all students in the transportation education system and for high school students residing in these settlements in the central district of our province, Mudurnu, and Göynük districts."

KASTAMONU

Due to the heavy snowfall and cold weather in Kastamonu, education was suspended for 1 day in 9 districts.

The snowfall continues to be particularly effective in the coastal region of Kastamonu. Due to the precipitation and cold weather, transportation education was suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 7, for İnebolu, Doğanyurt, Şenpazar, Çatalzeytin, and Abana districts, while education was suspended for all levels in Azdavay, Devrekani, Pınarbaşı, and Küre districts.

KAYSERİ

"In order to prevent potential adverse situations that may arise due to the current weather conditions, taking into account the movement of public employees and students between the city center and districts, education has been suspended on February 7, 2025, in all official private kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, vocational training centers, adult education institutions, maturation institutes, private teaching courses, and special education and rehabilitation centers across the province by the decision of our governorship. On the day education is suspended in schools, female personnel with children attending kindergartens and primary schools (the situation of personnel working in health, security, and units operating on a 24-hour basis will be evaluated by the relevant unit managers as required by the service), disabled, chronically ill, and pregnant public employees will also be considered on administrative leave."

SİNOP

In a written statement from the Sinop Governorship, it was emphasized that adverse weather conditions in the city continue.

As a preventive measure due to snowfall, it was reported that transportation education was suspended in some districts and the city center, stating:

"In accordance with the regulation on access to education through transportation, education has been suspended on Friday, February 7, for all public and private schools and special education institutions in the city center, Ayancık, Türkeli, Gerze, Erfelek, Dikmen, and Durağan districts."

SAKARYA

In a statement from the Sakarya Governorship, it was reported that according to the latest meteorological assessments, snowfall is expected to increase and there is a risk of icing, leading to a suspension of education in all formal and non-formal education institutions (excluding universities) across the province on Friday, February 7.

The statement also noted that pregnant, disabled, and chronically ill personnel working in public institutions, as well as female personnel with children attending kindergartens and nurseries, will also be considered on administrative leave for 1 day.

SİVAS

In a written statement from the governorship, it was noted that adverse weather conditions continue to affect the entire province, stating, "As a precaution against potential risks and dangers in transportation, education has been suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 7, 2025, for primary and secondary education institutions accessed through transportation from the villages and towns connected to the central district of Sivas."

The statement also mentioned that education will continue as normal for students not covered by transportation.

Additionally, due to heavy snowfall in the Gürün district, education was suspended for tomorrow.

ORDU

In a statement from the Ordu Governorship, it was reported that snowfall continues in the high areas of the city, with risks of frost and icing.

The statement noted that education will be suspended tomorrow in the entire districts of Aybastı, Çamaş, Çatalpınar, Çaybaşı, Gölköy, Gürgentepe, İkizce, Kabadüz, Kabataş, Korgan, Kumru, Mesudiye, and Ulubey, and in some schools in Akkuş, Altınordu, Fatsa, Gülyalı, Perşembe, and Ünye districts.

It was also noted that disabled and pregnant public employees in the districts where education is fully or partially suspended will also be considered on administrative leave.

RİZE

In the İkizdere district of Rize, education will be suspended tomorrow due to heavy snowfall, icing, and blizzard conditions.

In a statement from the district governorship, it was mentioned that by the decision of the District Hygiene Board, education will be suspended for 1 day in all primary and secondary schools tomorrow.

The statement also noted that disabled and pregnant personnel working in public institutions will also be considered on administrative leave on the same day.

GÜMÜŞHANE

In Gümüşhane, education will also be suspended in all schools tomorrow due to snow.

Nevşehir Governor Ali Fidan announced on his social media account that, according to the data from the Provincial Directorate of Meteorology, snowfall is expected to continue throughout the day tomorrow, and in this context, education has been suspended for one day.

"It is expected that the light snowfall, which has been continuing intermittently around Nevşehir, will intensify starting from 06:00 tomorrow and will continue intermittently throughout the day. Düzce Governor Selçuk Aslan stated on his social media account that according to meteorological forecasts, it is predicted that the heavy snowfall, which has been ongoing for two days in the province, will continue intermittently until tomorrow evening.

Emphasizing the risk of snow and icing, Governor Aslan stated, "On February 7, Thursday, education will be suspended for one day in all formal, private, and non-formal education institutions, rehabilitation centers, and Quran courses (excluding adults) throughout our province."

Governor Aslan also announced that disabled and pregnant public personnel, mothers with children attending daycare and preschool, and personnel with chronic illnesses will also be considered on administrative leave for one day.

KOCAELİ

In a statement from the governorship, it was noted that due to the continuation of adverse weather conditions and the risk of icing, education will be suspended tomorrow in all formal and non-formal education institutions (including rehabilitation centers and Quran courses) throughout the city.

TOKAT AND ARDAHAN

In a written statement from Tokat's Almus District Governorship, it was reported that snowfall is effective in the district center.

It was stated that due to adverse weather conditions, education will be suspended for one day in primary and secondary schools in the district center and the affiliated villages on Friday.

In Ardahan's Göle district, snow and blizzard caused disruptions in transportation.

TRABZON

In a statement from the Trabzon Governorship, it was noted that transportation-based education will be suspended for one day in the districts of Maçka, Şalpazarı, and Hayrat.

It was recorded that education was suspended in the village schools in the center, as well as in the districts of Espiye, Eynesil, Piraziz, Tirebolu, and Keşap, and that students in transportation-based education in these districts will be considered on administrative leave.
