18 SUSPECTS, INCLUDING ÜMİT KARAN, TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
The drug investigation targeting famous individuals is ongoing by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes Investigation Bureau. As part of the investigation, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Narcotic Crimes Division and Organized Crime Division took 18 suspects into custody for crimes including 'drug trafficking', 'facilitating drug use', and 'encouraging someone to engage in prostitution, facilitating the way for it, or mediating for prostitution or providing a place for it', among whom are volleyball player Derya Çayırgan and former football player Ümit Karan, who was taken into custody at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
