The bill regarding the increase of the minimum pension, which concerns nearly 5 million retirees, to 20,000 TL, was approved by the TBMM Planning and Budget Commission.
With the announcement of the inflation figures for December, the pension increase that will take effect in January 2026 has also been revealed. It was announced that the lowest pension for SSK and Bağkur retirees will be raised to 20 thousand lira with an increase of 18.48.
ACCEPTED IN THE COMMISSION
After this announcement, all eyes were turned to the news from the Parliament. The discussions on the Draft Law Amending Certain Laws and the Decree Law No. 375, which includes the increase of the lowest pension, have started in the TBMM Planning and Budget Commission. The regulation that raises the lowest pension to 20 thousand TL was accepted in the Planning and Budget Commission.
AFFECTING NEARLY 5 MILLION RETIREES
One of the initial signatories of the proposal, AK Party Osmaniye Deputy Seydi Gülsoy, stated that the minimum pension application, which started with 1000 lira in 2019, has become one of the important protective mechanisms of the social security system.
In his speech in the commission, Gülsoy used the following statements regarding the scope of the regulation:
"This figure, which was 16 thousand 881 lira in July 2025, is being increased to 20 thousand lira with an increase of approximately 18.48 percent, which is above the 6-month inflation rate of 12.19 percent. Before this regulation, 4 million 11 thousand of our retirees were benefiting, while with the new regulation, this number is expected to rise to 4 million 917 thousand people. The total cost of the regulation for the year 2026 has been calculated as 110.2 billion lira. This figure represents the transfer of the wealth obtained from growth to our retirees, who are the most valuable segment of society, without compromising our Medium-Term Program targets and budget discipline."

Before the meeting, CHP deputies held a protest with a coffin model and a pot they brought with them. CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba used the following statements during the protest:
